Grab Bars

Seachrome offers a complete line of heavy-duty stainless steel and solid brass grab bars for use where maximum safety, durability, and reliability are mandatory. Bars are available in a wide variety of flange styles, tube diameters, sizes, configurations, and surface finishes. Seachrome grab bars are 100% American made and comply with all ADA requirements when properly installed.

Tubing:

Bars are manufactured using either Type 304 (18-8) 18 ga. (.049") stainless steel or 260 alloy 18 ga. (.049") solid brass tubing. Grab bars are available in either 1.25” (32mm) “Q” Series or 1.50” (38mm) “H” Series diameters.

Wall Flanges:

Mounting flanges are constructed of Type 304 stainless steel and heliarc welded to the bar to form a single structural unit. Flanges are available in exposed screw and concealed screw styles with a selection of decorative flange covers. You will find our most popular flange styles below. Many other “flange-less” and other custom mountings are available. Please call the factory for additional information.

Wall Clearance:

On straight bars, the standard clearance between the finished wall surface and the inner bar edge is 1.5" (38mm.) Other wall clearances are available on request.

Finishes:

In addition to our standard brushed satin finish, all stainless steel bars are available in polished, powder coated, or PVD finishes. In addition, stainless bars can be provided with a slip-resistant peened gripping surface with either satin or polished ends. Polished solid brass bars are also available.

Load Bearing and Installation:

When properly installed, all Seachrome 1½" clearance, wall-mounted, straight bars have been designed and manufactured to support loads exceeding the downward pull requirements for Federal specifications FHA, VA, HUD, hospital codes, and private construction. The actual "in use" load bearing capacity of any grab bar, however, will be limited by the strength of its mounting surface and installation hardware. Seachrome recommends that grab bars be installed using 2" minimum thickness "in wall" solid wood backing material with #10 x 2" stainless steel, phillips-head, sheet metal screws, or using a wall embedded, minimum 12 ga. (2.8mm) steel anchor plate with #10 x 24 stainless steel machine screws. When mounting on toilet partitions, Seachrome recommends the use of 3" (76mm) dia., 16 Ga. (1.6mm), stainless steel, "through wall" anchor disks. Please contact the factory for further mounting recommendations.
Under no circumstances should any grab bar be mounted to drywall, sheetrock, plaster, fiberglass, acrylic or other similar "hollow" wall surfaces without appropriate wood or steel backing material.

Seachrome’s part-numbering system allows you to easily specify your unique combination of finish, configuration, size, bar diameter, and flange style.
For example, to order a satin finish stainless steel, 24 x 36 tub and shower bar with concealed screw flanges and the rope style decorative flange covers, our item designation is GST-240360-HCR2. This is derived as follows:
